1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the My Clean Ocean website (mycleanocean.org), participating in our programs, or subscribing to our SMS messaging service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use our services. Participation in all My Clean Ocean programs is entirely voluntary.
2. SMS Messaging Program
By opting in to our SMS program, you agree to the following:
Types of Messages
You will receive recurring automated marketing and informational text messages from My Clean Ocean including: ocean expedition alerts and invitations, volunteer opportunities, Blue Lens and citizen science program announcements, conservation news and updates, fundraising and donation campaigns, and general organizational announcements. Message frequency varies based on program activity (approximately 2–4 messages per month).
How to Stop (Opt Out)
You may cancel your SMS subscription at any time by replying STOP to any text message from My Clean Ocean. After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message confirming your unsubscription. No further messages will be sent unless you re-subscribe. You may also opt out by emailing hello@mycleanocean.org.

Message & Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply. My Clean Ocean is not responsible for charges incurred by your mobile carrier. Please contact your carrier for details about your messaging plan.
Voluntary Participation
Participation in our SMS program is entirely voluntary. Consent to receive text messages is not required as a condition of making a donation, volunteering, or participating in any My Clean Ocean program or event.
3. Website Use
You agree to use the My Clean Ocean website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others or restrict their use and enjoyment of the site. You may not use our website to transmit any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, to impersonate any person or entity, or to collect personal information about other users.
4. Donations
My Clean Ocean is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations made through our website are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. All donations are final and non-refundable unless otherwise determined at our sole discretion. Donation receipts and tax acknowledgment letters will be sent to the email address provided at the time of donation.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on the My Clean Ocean website, including text, photographs, graphics, video, and the My Clean Ocean name and logo, is the property of My Clean Ocean or its content suppliers and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
Our website and services are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. My Clean Ocean does not warrant that the website will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, My Clean Ocean shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of or inability to use our website or services, including our SMS program.
8. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Orange County, California.
9. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting to this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of our website or services after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
