Turning the camera into a tool for conservation.

The Short Version
Javier Mendoza is the founder and CEO of My Clean Ocean — an underwater cinematographer and wildlife photographer who has spent his career turning the camera into a tool for conservation. Javier Mendoza is a California-based philanthropist, master-level scuba diver, and ethical wildlife photographer dedicated to marine conservation. Operating primarily off the Southern California coast aboard his Boston Whaler, Javier utilizes cutting-edge underwater cinema technology to bring the hidden realities of our oceans to the surface.
His extensive field experience includes participating in scientific surveys, collecting environmental samples, and utilizing advanced diving technologies to aid in marine biology and oceanography research. Whether monitoring local kelp forests or planning deep-water photography expeditions to Antarctica, Javier consistently leverages his resources and platform to drive social and environmental change.
As the driving force behind My Clean Ocean, Javier uses his global network and visual advocacy to fund frontline plastic removal, protect vulnerable species, and inspire public engagement in the fight for a healthier planet.
